Dr Kemal Ahson 

 
Dr Kemal Ahson is the managing consultant of Lifeworld Ltd which provides consultancy support on commissioning, procurement and economic development.

He is the procurement advisor to the National Health Service/DH Mosaic project which aligns procurement, efficiency and equality goals, and is working with a number of individual trusts - for instance, he recently undertook a rapid review of third sector commissioning at NHS Lewisham and is currently developing a set of Social Accounts for Guys and St Thomas Hospital.

He also is currently leading work at the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) on using procurement to address educational inequalities.

Kemal worked on the equality impact assessment of the London 2012 Olympics as well as provided a baseline assessment for the construction industry. Kemal has run a number of procurement and tendering support programmes for diverse suppliers, third sector groups and SMEs, including the DTI funded Fit to Supply programme and LDA/ERDF funded West London Supply Chain initiative. He advised on the European funded Trade Local procurement programme in North London and undertook the evaluation of the SME Procurement Pilot (Haringey) which influenced the development of the Supply2.gov portal.

He wrote the London Mayor’s BME Procurement Action Plan and has advised a number of Regional Development Agencies on supplier diversity. He also is advising the Russian Ministry of Economic and Trade on public procurement and trade liberalisation. Kemal helped establish NovoPraxis which promotes responsible procurement and tendering among buyers and suppliers.
