Kieran Williams

Kieran Williams recently joined the staff of the Westminster Business School as a senior lecturer on postgraduate courses in the areas of culture, change and diversity.

This follows twenty years as an independent consultant, providing training and consultancy to statutory and voluntary organisations. She has run workshops on equalities and diversity for several thousand staff and managers in NHS Trusts and local authorities and provided consultancy support to organisations developing equality schemes and reviewing their HR policies/practices in order to build equality cultures. Kieran runs a leadership programme for one Foundation Trust and teaches on a tailor-made MBA programme for another.

Recently, Kieran edited the chapter on Managing  Diversity in the text “Exploring Human Resource Management” (pub McGraw Hill) and completed a benchmarking exercise on the implementation of the Equality Standard in the public sector. She is also a member of a research group evaluating disability equality schemes in the NHS and comparing disability equality issues across European countries.

Kieran originally qualified as a teacher and her postgraduate study in Race Relations was completed at the University of Bradford where she investigated the impact of anti-racist training in the public sector.  In the eighties she was employed as a Positive Action specialist in LB Camden and then as a training manager in the newspaper industry, developing positive action initiatives with the support of the European Social Fund.

She holds a commercial pilot’s licence and is qualified both as a teacher of English as a Second Language and as a flight instructor.
