The NHS is part of the economy-wide programme to increase apprenticeships across the UK, and is moving towards its 2009/10 aspiration to increase the number of NHS Apprenticeships by 5000.

There has been a large increase in the number of NHS Apprentceships in all areas of the country, and in all types of organisation. They cover a wide range of roles, including clinical support workers, estates staff, administration and IT. Staff who are benefiting range from very young school leavers, to mature existing and new staff.

The NHS is joining employers, schools and colleges across the country to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week.

The Apprenticeships website provides more information on activities in Apprenticeships Week, including material and a toolkit for those wanting to be involved.

Find out more on about apprenticeships on our pathways to employment web pages.

More information on NHS Apprenticeships is available on the Skills for Health website.
