Our submission to the NHS Pay Review Body (NHS PRB) on behalf of employers in the NHS in England, supports the implementation of the final year of the multi-year settlement for Agenda for Change staff. This would mean a 2.25% uplift plus some structural changes for this staff group.
Our submission reflects the views of over 300 NHS employers who contributed to our evidence. Employers believe that adhering to the settlement will demonstrate a commitment to partnership working and to staff engagement, which will be essential if the NHS is to work through the serious funding challenges likely from 2011.
Gill Bellord, director of pay, pensions and employment relations at NHS Employers, said: “Employers have told us that, on balance, the rationale for honouring the final year of the three-year settlement in 2010/11 is still valid and we have asked the NHS Review Body to endorse the indicative pay increases as negotiated.
“Employers have told us that they have concerns over affordability and that meeting the pay increases will be difficult. We expect that the costs of the increases will be covered by the tariff and employers have made provision for this.”
