Section 4: equal pay data and reports

31/01/2012
To assist NHS organisations to meet their legal duties under the Equality Act 2010, the NHS Staff Council Equality and Diversity Group has been working with the NHS Information Centre to produce a series of standard reports.

The iView reports, which are available to download below, will give a high level overview of the grade breakdown of NHS staff by age, disability, race, religious belief, gender and sexual orientation. The second set of reports in each section will give you an overview of average pay by staff group for each equality grouping. Each of these reports can be customised to focus on your organisation and any other organisations you wish to compare figures with.

Viewing equality data and equal pay reports in iView

The NHS Information Centre has produced a brief guidance document which tells you how to alter the standard reports to focus on your organisation. Further information and guidance on how to use iView is available from the iView website.

The links below will take you to an iView standard report. However, if you are not already registered as an iView user, you will need to be invited  by the iView Authentication User in your organisation.

Please note:

  • Staff with local pay grades will have their grade listed as 'unknown'.
  • Absence of classification data in a report, (for example, staff with a disability status of “Unknown” or “Not Disclosed”) does not mean that conclusions cannot be made. The absence itself may tell you something about your organisation.
  • The figures in all of the reports below are actual figures. Guidance on how to convert them into percentages can be found in the NHS Information Centre on the right hand side of the page.

This is just one step in the equal pay audit process and does not mean that you have met your requirements under the Equality Act. The tables within iView are a starting point for investigation. Additional exploration is possible within iView but iView will only provide the questions, not the answers.  To find out more about what information you need to produce and publish, see the Equality and Human Rights Commission's guidance document.
