English v Thomas Sanderson (2009)
Colleagues repeatedly subjected English to homophobic banter, even though he was clearly not gay and his colleagues knew this. They thought it funny to taunt a man they knew to be heterosexual with being homosexual. The Court of Appeal ruled by a majority decision, that the case came within the intent of both domestic legislation and the EU employment equality directive. They decided English had been harassed on the grounds of sexual orientation.
