The innovative toolkit was unveiled on the NHS Confederation stand by Jan Sobieraj, on the first day of his new role as interim director-general of workforce for the NHS and social care at the Department of Health, and Dean Royles, director of the NHS Employers organisation.
The toolkit is a ‘click and go’ guide that provides you with all the information and tools you need to help increase staff engagement in your organisation.
Developed jointly between the NHS Employers organisation and the Department of Health, it contains a wide range of information including an introduction to staff engagement, practical working examples and evidence of the benefits that you can achieve from having an engaged workforce.
Positive impact
Speaking at the launch, Dean Royles said he was "very proud" of the toolkit, as "staff engagement matters" and is proven to have a positive impact on patient satisfaction and financial performance.
Jan Sobieraj spoke of the great partnership work that had taken place between the Department of Health and the NHS Employers organisation to deliver the toolkit, which was evidence-based and the result of much research.
Staff engagement star
At the heart of the toolkit is the staff engagement star, which represents five key processes of staff engagement that were identified through discussions with staff and through the staff survey. It symbolises a positive cycle of engagement and improvement in any one of the five areas should contribute to overall progress.
Delegates who attended our recent staff engagement workshops will receive an email alert when the toolkit is live, as will members of our staff engagement virtual community. Copies of the presentations from these workshops will also be published at the same time.
