Learning from outside the NHS
NHS Employers has had a number of requests for non NHS case studies on staff engagement issues and in response to this, we organised a webinar with two leading private sector organisations who explained their approaches.
On 19 March 2012, we had two presentations from the manufacturing and food company Mars and the finance group, Royal Bank of Scotland which looked at issues such as the role of staff engagement within overall HR polices, the pivotal role of line managers and how to use data from staff surveys effectively.

Our March 2011 webinar, “the engaging manager” focussed on the issue of how line managers can support the staff engagement agenda. It also looked at how the Care Quality Commission uses data from the survey to inform its asssessments.

Staff engagement during challenging times

The fourth of our staff engagement webinars took place on 15 December 2010. Delegates heard from speakers from the University of South Manchester Hospital Trust and York Hospitals NHS Trust who explained how they are managing to maintain effective staff engagement during organisational change.
Jonny Gifford from Roffey Park, also presented their latest research, titled The human voice of employee engagement. This looked at what managers, leaders and HR can do to reduce the negative impacts of large-scale change.

Maintaining staff engagement during financial challenge and organisational upheaval.
Held on 13 September 2010, our third webinar sought to share experiences on a range of employee engagement issues facing the NHS. Speakers included representatives from primary care trusts, the acute sector as well as Birmingham City Council and the Department of Health.
