Flu fighter campaign
The last couple of weeks at flu fighter HQ have been hectic with a couple of packages going missing we have had to meet lots of requests for additional materials. Thank you for your patience - we are continually working our way through the flu fighter inbox to deal with requests, package up more posters and send everything out.
Flu fighter reporting
We are receiving stories from flu leads and vaccinators all around the country, reporting the beginning of what we know will be a successful vaccination campaign. We’ve seen pictures of sashes in Southampton, queues in Cornwall, injections in Ipswich.
There are and lots of snaps of CEOs and directors rolling up their sleeves to be vaccinated against flu, which is great to see those in senior positions leading by example for their staff.
Many reports of vaccination uptake figures from trusts are being retweeted on twitter, including photos of many different staff getting vaccinated against flu. It is great to see, and encouraging that there are so many flu fighter stories at such as early stage in the campaign. If your communications team is active on this social channel then please encourage them to join the conversation - #flufighter.
Please keep sending your stories and photographs in, it is brilliant to see what you’re getting up to. If you think you are doing something unusual or are already sensing a much bigger demand than last year, please let us know and we may get in touch for a best practice case study when you have finished vaccinating.
Flu leads and vaccinating teams may have heard that Crucell has suspended delivery of flu vaccines, and we have had some queries about this. Crucell vaccines only make up around 10 per cent of ordered stock in England, and we expect that most organisations order from multiple drugs companies to spread the potential risk. We hope that a very limited number of organisations have been affected. Advice from the Department of Health is to order alternative – not additional – vaccines from a different supplier. If and when we get more information about vaccine supply we will update you.

We will be posting the webinar online shortly so if you were unable to attend, please keep an eye out on our latest news page and listen to the recording if you get the chance.
