The KSF Group

The Knowledge and Skills Framework Group (KSFG) is a sub-group of the NHS Staff Council, who has overall responsibility for the Agenda for Change pay system.

The KSFG oversees the use and any further development of the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) to make sure it continues to be fit for purpose.

The role and remit of the KSFG

The KSFGs role is to make any necessary recommendations to the NHS Staff Council and provide practical help and assistance to organisations in respect of the KSF. Their remit is to:

  • support and assist the use of the KSF in the NHS by ensuring that the service has the tools and guidance needed
  • monitor, evaluate and review the use of the NHS KSF in practice
  • maintain and improve the NHS KSF and associated products over time
  • respond and report to the NHS Staff Council/Executive as required
  • ensure that the work programme is taken forward on the basis of partnership and stakeholder support.

The KSFGs work programme is prepared annually and is agreed by the Executive of the NHS Staff Council on behalf of the Council.

Membership

Members of the KSFG are appointed by the NHS Staff Council.  Membership is reviewed annually with employer and staff sides taking responsibility for their own memberships.

Meetings

The KSFG meets four times a year, usually for the full day in London.  The Joint Chairs of the KSFG may attend meetings of the NHS Staff Council to report on progress in the work programme and to raise any issues that require Staff Council consideration.
