NHS Employers plays a leading role in modernising pay and conditions, having assumed from the Department of Health the responsibility to negotiate with the BMA.
As a result, negotiations are now led by employers in the NHS which should ensure that those areas of greatest concern to the service, on contractual issues, are addressed and workable solutions put in place. We also offer guidance and advice on the implementation of contracts, on-line and in response to specific enquiries.
NHS Employers has taken advice from employing organisations, professional and legal advisors and other stakeholders to produce a paper setting out its understanding of the purpose and application of pay protection in respect of junior doctors.
Following the recent change to the Medical Act, NHS Employers has confirmed with HM Revenue and Customs that the tax exemption currently applicable to free accommodation provided for Foundation 1 trainees will continue until August 2008.
