In July 2010, the Coalition Government announced its plans to phase out the default retirement age (DRA) by October 2011, with transitional arrangements applying from 1 April 2011.
NHS Employers gathered views from employers to feed into the Government’s consultation following the announcement on what kind of support and guidance employers require to operate without a DRA. Although there was no clear consensus from employers, NHS Employers provided a balanced response which reflected the views received. A copy of the full response is available.
