MSC roadshows - new date for NHS South East Coast

10/09/2010
Following the success of the Modernising Scientific Careers (MSC) roadshows in July, NHS South East Coast has announced a date to run its roadshow for employers in their region to discuss the latest policy developments and the next steps for MSC.
Delegates at a conference

Throughout July, strategic health authorities (SHAs), with the support of the Department of Health (DH), hosted a series of roadshows which provided the first opportunity since the publication of the England action plan in April 2010 for key stakeholders to hear about the progress to date on MSC and how SHAs would be shaping its implementation at a local level.

When and where is the event taking place?

The event will take place on 29 October 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Gatwick.

Why should I attend this event?

The aim of the event is to enable all those involved in the education and training, development and planning of the healthcare science workforce to hear from Professor Sue Hill, the DH's Chief Scientific Officer and NHS South East Coast about the implementation of MSC and how it will deliver improved health outcomes for patients in a challenging financial environment.

The event will have a distinct regional flavour. Delegates will have an opportunity to discuss arrangements to implement MSC in their area, how it contributes to the quality outcomes and the productivity agenda, as well as network with colleagues from across the region.

Who is the event aimed at?

The event is aimed at all stakeholders with an interest in the training, education and profile of the healthcare scientific workforce including lead scientists, heads of service staff involved in healthcare science in primary and secondary care, workforce planners, higher education institutions, trade unions and other key partners.

NHS Employers is encouraging directors of human resources and directors of workforce within NHS organisations in NHS South East Coast to attend to find out how MSC will:

  • allow flexibility in healthcare science workforce planning
  • ensure high quality services can be delivered as efficiently as possible
  • deliver savings in investment in NHS education and training programmes.

How do I book a place?
