New CRB update service

In our discussion paper New disclosure and barring services – what employers need to know we summarise the key changes to the new scaled back employment vetting scheme and reform of the criminal record checking regime.

The paper introduces proposals to provide a new system that will include the continuous updating of criminal record data, allowing better transferability of CRB checks and reducing the burden of carrying out unnecessary repeat checks.

The CRB is now working to develop this new online service with a proposed implementation date of early 2013. A sample of employers from across sectors were invited to attend an engagement event hosted by the CRB in January. The NHS Employers organisation was represented at the event and attached is the briefing pack for delegates which offers a Q&A about the new service.

The CRB are now asking employers to complete an online survey to assess the likely take up of the service and to understand how it may impact on future volumes.

Responses via the online questionnaire are requested by 15 February 2012. Should you have any difficulty in completing the questionnaire, or require further information please email CRBcommunications@crb.gsi.gov.uk 

The results will be compiled and published on the Home Office website and in CRB News.
