11/01/2010
The UK Border Agency has confirmed the arrangements for doctors from outside the UK and European Economic Area (EEA) wishing to apply for Medical Specialty Training in 2010.

Non-UK and non-EEA doctors who have graduated from a UK medical school and are completing their Foundation Programme in August 2010 must now apply for their visa under tier 1 (post-study work) category of the points-based immigration system.

This means that these candidates will not be subject to the resident labour market test and employers do not need to issue a certificate of sponsorship.

All other overseas applicants will be subject to the full tier 2 regulations.
