About us

The impact of the EU agenda on the NHS is constantly increasing, bringing with it both challenges and opportunities. 

The NHS European Office is the conduit for the NHS to engage with the EU agenda. It is a representative body for the range of NHS organisations in England on EU affairs. 

Regularly seeking input from NHS representatives to help assess potential implications for the NHS of EU policy and legislation, in order to develop the EU office position, papers and influence our lobbying strategies at European level.  

The work of the office includes:

• monitoring and influencing EU policy and legislation in the interest of the NHS 
• facilitating access to EU funds for NHS bodies and their partner organisations 
• supporting pan-European collaborations and sharing successful EU practices.

Publications

The NHS European Office produces briefings to help explain EU developments which have potential implications for the NHS and which help NHS organisations prepare for implementation of EU legislation at national level. 

EU bulletin

Produced monthly, the email bulletin highlights the work carried out for the office and provides latest news from the EU institutions on developments that are relevant to the NHS. An ad hoc bulletin on EU funding opportunities is also available.

Events and visits

The NHS European Office regularly participates in seminars and events both in the UK and in Brussels. It facilitates the participation of NHS representatives in relevant EU-related visits, conferences and events. Upcoming events are detailed on the events page.
