NHS Employers support the local HR networks by:
The HR network meetings are broadly aligned with the current SHA boundaries. The networks replace what was known as SHRINE (strategic HR intelligence networks). In Autumn 2004 HR directors gave a clear steer that they wanted their networks to move from an operational focus to one that would support the development of HR as a strategic business partner and the new HR networks now have this as their focus. The networks allow the NHS organisations in each patch to share learning around strategic issues around the workforce implications of service developments and policy changes such as plurality of provision, choice, managing long term conditions, efficiency requirements, Connecting for Health, MMC and public health. The networks also provide a vital source of information that allows NHS Employers to speak confidently on behalf of NHS employers on workforce and employment issues and to develop the workforce agenda. The HR networks are also responsible for nominating the HR representatives for the NHS Employers Assembly.
