Press release: NHS Employers calls for employers' response to pensions consultation04 Mar 2005 NHS Employers today issued a further call to organisations that employ staff in the NHS to respond to the NHS Pension Scheme review consultation document. The consultation process is now approaching its final month and to date over 1,500 responses have been received. The closing date for the consultation is 11 April. At NHS Employers' first policy board meeting this week it was agreed that action needs to be taken to ensure that the voice of employers as well as individuals and staff-side organisations is heard. John Rostill, Chair of NHS Employers assembly and policy board said: 'At our first policy board meeting earlier this week we discussed the progress of the consultation. We are delighted that we've had such a good response. It is important that we hear from as many people as possible including the boards of organisations that employ staff and the individuals themselves. The proposals will have significant implications for employers of NHS staff and we particularly urge NHS organisations to make a corporate response. We will be writing again to all NHS organisations with further guidance to assist them in formulating their responses'. Most of the review recommendations are jointly agreed with the unions but there are three areas where there are still unresolved issues.
