Press release: NHS Employers and NHS trade unions reach agreement on mileage allowance02 Jul 2008 NHS Employers and the NHS trade unions announced today that they have agreed increases on the mileage allowances for staff on Agenda for Change terms and conditions. Gill Bellord Director of Pay, Pensions & Employment Relations, NHS Employers said: "We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with staff-side colleagues on mileage allowances. "The 10% increase to the mileage allowances will be effective in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales as of 1 July 2008. "In the longer term, we have agreed to review the whole system of calculating mileage and other travel allowances and in future will review them on a regular basis." Gerry O'Dwyer, Staff Side NHS Executive representative said: "This is a welcome increase while we resolve the wider issues of mileage allowances. We will continue to work with NHS Employers in partnership over the next few months to resolve this important issue for our members." Notes for editors
