Press release: New contract and QOF guidance published20 Feb 2006 The BMA's General Practitioners Committee and NHS Employers are today jointly publishing guidance on the revised national GP contract and on the revised Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), both to take effect from 1 April 2006. Specifications for the four new English Directed Enhanced Services (DESs) are also published alongside the guidance. Details of the DESs in the other countries will be published at a later date when finalised. In England the new DESs cover: "choice and booking" "towards practice based commissioning"; "Information management and technology"; and "Access to primary care". All the documents can be found on the websites of both the BMA and the NHS Employers.
