The Department of Health (DH) and Health Education England (HEE) have published guidance and frequently asked questions to complement their new education initiative for health visitors (HVs). The initiative, developed with key stakeholders, and with input from health visiting providers, offers new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for HVs.
The CPD learning material is available to all HVs, and covers ten domains;
• Transition to parenthood
• Maternal and infant mental health
• Health and wellbeing 2.5 years
• Breast feeding
• Managing minor illness
• Building community capacity
• Leadership and other support
• Domestic violence and abuse
• Obesity, nutrition and physical exercise
Health visiting service providers are encouraged to work with their local education and training boards (LETBs) and local area teams to ensure these opportunities are available to their HVs, delivered and evaluated. Local Area Teams will continue to work in partnership with providers to plan how to make the CPD offer available to local HVs based on analysis of need identified with the provider.
If you have any questions then please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and state 'CPD training' in the subject line.
