To encourage people viewing our internal vacancy bulletin or trust website to apply on-line via the NHS Careers site, so reducing telephone calls into the department and costs with the reduction in time spent processing paper application forms and printing costs of job descriptions and person specifications.
We have encouraged applicants to apply via our online systems by incorporating a hypertext link from the actual vacancy on the NHS Careers site to our jobs listed on the internal vacancy bulletins and Trust website this facilitates the candidate being able to view the person specification and job description and then make their application on-line.
The amount of people viewing our online adverts has doubled. This has halved recruitment administration. Service managers, HR managers and chief executive level are impressed by the quick turnaround and also the amount of applications they are now receiving as part of the short-listing process, they have remarked upon how user-friendly this initiative is, and there has been huge interest from neighbouring PCTs to change their practices to match ours
E-recruitment allows us to print reports and evaluate the amount of people applying via electronically. We have audited the amount of phone calls to the answer machine since the change and seen a significant reduction in the amount of paper applications requested.
