NHS Employers’ response to the Department of Health’s NHS Pension Scheme consultation on proposed increases to employee contribution rates effective from April 2012

28 / 10 / 2011

The NHS Employers organisation's submission represents views from employers on the potential impact of the proposed increase in employee contributions for the NHS Pension Scheme on the NHS workforce and highlights any service delivery issues.

Representing employer views, we recognised that the Government intended to introduce increased NHS Pension member contributions and, from an employers perspective, it was important that this was done fairly and in a way that protected low earner whist at the same time minimised opt outs from the scheme.

As part of our submission we have proposed a re-distribution of the DH proposed employee pension contribution increase for 2012/13.
