The NHS Staff Council’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing Partnership Group (HSWPG) has published a revised version of the workplace health and safety standards document with the support of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

This document aims to help organisations comply with health and safety law by pulling together legal requirements and good practice. It includes revised chapters on health and safety management systems (to reflect HSE’s Plan, Do, Check) process; lone working and an updated chapter on sharps injuries reflecting the new health and safety (sharps instruments in healthcare) regulations 2013, as well as updated links and signposts to all relevant information.

The standards are aimed at directors, managers with health and safety responsibilities, health and safety professionals and trade union safety representatives.
