The eligibility for DBS check guidance (revised in May 2015)
sets out a number of different example scenarios to help employers in the NHS make a more informed decision about whether or not a role is eligible for a criminal record check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (known as a DBS check).
These scenarios are based on common queries received from employers and will be useful to refer to when considering which NHS positions are eligible for a DBS check, and how different activities can impact on the level of check required.
We will continue to update this document with new examples based on any future queries.
This resource should be read in conjunction with the criminal record and barring check standard
which outlines the legal requirements to obtain a DBS check when recruiting in the NHS.
