Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust worked with the Open University as secondment opportunities for HCAs were no longer available through their Local Education and Training Board (LETB) and the trust were keen to demonstrate their continued commitment to investing in and developing the support workforce.
The main benefit of this programme is that by investing in the support workforce staff feel valued, which improves the ability to retain talented members of staff.
