Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust (WHCT) provides services in a wide range of community settings as well as in acute hospitals, nursing and residential homes. With the aim of developing its healthcare support workforce, WHCT requires all new staff to achieve the Care Certificate.

This good practice case study outlines how the trust overcame several challenges to embed the certificate. The trust has developed a process that can be applied to staff in bands 1-4, with different levels of experience and based in different settings. Managers are now using the framework to identify further training and development opportunities for staff.
