This event is for HRDs, HRD deputies, medical, clinical and nursing directors only.

The 2016 NHS Employers Workforce Summit is taking place at Manchester Central from Tuesday 14 June to Wednesday 15 June, and will provide a dedicated workforce focused, networking and development space for HRDs working across the NHS.

The summit will be an integral part of the 2016 NHS Confederation annual conference and exhibition, which will take place from Wednesday 15 June to Friday 17 June at Manchester Central.

This year the theme will be centred around tackling workforce challenges together, and will include sessions on workforce productivity, the Carter review and a practical session on workforce resilience led by specialists in this field, Robertson Cooper. There will also be an opportunity to discuss workforce priorities with the leaders of the recently launched NHS Improvement.

The Summit opens on Tuesday 14 June at 4.30pm, giving delegates the opportunity to hear Helen Sharman, the UK's first astronaut, speak about the importance of leadership and teamwork.

On Wednesday morning there will be a complimentary networking reception for all Summit delegates, which will provide a great opportunity to network as well as share ideas and experiences with colleagues.

As well as a range of Summit exclusive sessions on the Wednesday, delegates will have access to the NHS Confederation annual conference and exhibition, including plenary sessions, the conference exhibition and welcome drinks reception.

  • Helen Sharman OBE, UK's first Astronaut
  • Lyn McIntyre MBE, Senior Nurse Adviser - Workforce Efficiency
  • Tony McCarthy, Independent Consultant Adviser to the Carter Review
