The Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust has introduced an in-house mediation service for all staff. The service provides a professional approach to conflict resolution which is separate from the formal policy approach for handling grievances. Early intervention on workplace conflict aims to reduce the human and financial costs, and organisational risks, in this area. The Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust, as part of the Camden Health Employment Steering Group, is working with other north London trusts, the local authority and Job Centre Plus to improve the employability and skills of local people seeking work. This will include opportunities for staff to mentor single parents who want to return to work. This will include providing guidance for all in-patients with a disability on how to request additional support, ensuring that any support is provided throughout their patient journey.
