Domestic recruitment
NHS Employers provide advice and support to NHS organisations on the domestic recruitment and retention of doctors, dentists, nurses, therapists, scientists and the wider healthcare team.
International recruitment
NHS Employers has taken assumed responsibility for promotion, advice and guidance of international recruitment (IR) from the Department of Health. The level of activity will reflect the needs of NHS organisations through regular liaison with the SHA recruitment leads forum.
Healthcare Professions Workforce
Part of the role of NHS Employers is to work with employers to help them understand and contribute to changes in the recruitment, training and career structure of the healthcare professions workforce. This includes facilitating the sharing of good practice in this field.
Staff support
The NHS Employers shared learning database provides a way for the NHS to learn from the experience of other organisations across the NHS through case studies and examples of best practice. These pages look at how IWL supports employers in recruitment, retention and return within the NHS, across all staff groups.
Training and development
As part of the Improving Working Lives (IWL) Standard, Trusts across the country are developing their training programmes to enable them to develop their existing staff and recruit individuals from local communities to the workforce by offering recognised qualifications.
