Cavendish Review report published

10 / 7 / 2013 8.43am

As a result of the findings at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and failings reported at Winterbourne View, the Secretary of State asked Camilla Cavendish to carry out an independent review into healthcare assistants (HCAs) and support workers in the NHS and social care.

Cavendish spent time with staff and patients and in a number of organisations where HCAs and support workers are employed to look at recruitment, training, supervision, support and public confidence. She has set out her findings and 18 recommendations about the standards and recognition of support workers in her report published today.
