A new ESR case study by St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

The Electronic Staff Record (ESR) Manager Self Service was introduced at St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, after it became the lead employer for approximately 2,300 junior doctors on the Cheshire and Merseyside Deanery programme.

The junior doctors were employed across 28 organisations and GP practices. Before the Manager Self Service System was in place each organisation had to complete a spreadsheet with details of absences which was then sent to the trust to manage centrally. The trust found that this led to sporadic and inaccurate reporting.

The introduction of the system provided all host organisations with a platform to record absences and enabled the trust to produce more accurate reports.
