There are areas around the country where NHS organisations are challenged by occupational shortages.

When options to recruit from the domestic labour market have been exhausted, some employers will decide to recruit qualified healthcare professionals from outside of the UK as a solution to meeting their workforce supply demands. 

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust - their story

On failing to recruit qualified Band 5 nurses from the UK domestic workforce, Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust decided to recruit from Portugal.
