Court of Appeal ruling on Sunday working

The Court of Appeal has given its decision in the long running case of Mrs Mba v London Borough of Merton. This is the latest in a number of high profile cases involving employers’ requirements and their compatibility with religious beliefs. The Court of Appeal decided that Mrs Mba’s employer had relied upon a legitimate aim and had used proportionate means to achieve it by requiring her to work on Sundays. The appeal failed.
