Government announcement on zero hours contracts

19 / 12 / 2013 4.41pm

As part of the consultation exercise, the Government has outlined proposals on ways to tackle the lack of transparency in the way zero hours contracts are currently being used and improved guidance for both employers and employees around their use.

The Government are seeking views on a range of proposals including; a potential ban the use of exclusivity clauses in contracts that offer no guarantee of work and new guidance to improve transparency around the use of zero hours contracts for employers and employees.

The consultation will run until 13 March 2014 and we are interested to hear employer views on this topic. If you have any comments then please contact our pay on contracts team at

You can find out more about the consultation on the Department for Business, Innovations and Skills website.
