Sickness absence figures released

06 / 1 / 2014 10.56am

This latest report from HSCIC highlights that the average sickness absence for NHS staff in England was 3.87 per cent for the period between July and September 2013. This is a reduction of 0.19 per cent for the same period in 2012.

The area with the highest absence rate over this period was the North West HEE region at 4.37 per cent, and the region with the lowest absence rate was the North Central and East London HEE region at 3.28 per cent.

Instead of quarterly reports, the HSCIC will now be publishing NHS sickness figures on a monthly basis, to enable the publications to be more frequent and timely. We will continue to highlight important figures from these reports to health and wellbeing leads.

The full report can be found on the HSCIC website.

Further information on sickness absence can be found on our managers guide to sickness absence web page.
