Flexible working and shared parental leave

As the largest employer in Europe, the NHS needs to lead the way in terms of promoting agile and flexible working. In a rapidly changing environment, where technological and medical developments are constantly pushing new boundaries, the NHS needs a workforce which can respond to these changes and adjust to new ways of working. At the same time, the NHS needs to be mindful of its duties under the Equality Act and other legislation to provide a working environment in which staff are valued and their needs as parents, carers and individuals are recognised and met.

Our focus this month will be on why employers should promote flexible / agile working; how the best employers use flexible / agile working to increase their competitive advantage; and what lies ahead for employers in terms of new developments and changes in legislation in relation to parental leave.
