Scientist Training Programme – employment processes reminder

National recruitment is well underway for the next cohort of trainee clinical scientists to join the Scientist Training Programme (STP) in September.

What this means for employers

The National School of Healthcare Science will now have been in touch with training departments to inform them about which successful applicant(s) will be joining them to start the STP in September. Training post offers have been made subject to satisfactory employment checks and it is now the responsibility of employers to make those checks before the trainees start in post.

Trainees who accept the offer of a post at your organisation and have satisfactory employment checks should be issued with a contract of employment.

It is recommended that employment/training should commence at least 2-4 weeks prior to the trainees attending their first university placement. This allows trainees to have local induction into their host department before starting their university course.

Further information

You can find out more about the employment of STP trainees in a helpful guidance document which can be found on the National School of Healthcare Science website.
