A patient leader, a miscarriage specialist nurse, an author, a creator and a specialist registrar all feature in the HSJ's most inspirational women list for 2014.
The judges, who all come from different healthcare backgrounds had the difficult task of shortlisting from the hundreds of entries received. Their focus this year was on the women who drive transformational change in healthcare, and this list represents women from very different areas of healthcare, both within the NHS and outside it.
Founder of the '#hellomynameis' campaign and who NHS Employers has worked with over the last six months, Dr Kate Granger was recognised on the list.
The judges said of Dr Granger "I just think she’s a fantastic woman. Despite being ill, she still talks about things like work-life balance, and about baking. And it’s totally selfless to spend the last part of her life trying to leave a legacy in healthcare.”
