In May 2014 changes were made to legislation to strengthen and simplify the civil penalty scheme to prevent illegal working. This included changes to make it easier for employers to conduct right to work checks on their employees, as well as ensuring a more robust response to employers that are found to be employing illegal worker/s.
Following these changes the Home Office has now launched an on-line right to work check facility. It is an interactive tool which will take an employer step-by-step through the process of checking documents to establish a right to work. The tool is easy to use and can be found under external links on our right to work checks page here.
