The Minister for Immigration has commissioned a partial review of the shortage occupation lists for the UK. This review will be carried out by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC).

What this means for employers

This is an opportunity for employers to influence the inclusion or removal of any occupations on the shortage occupation lists.   Local evidence can be submitted directly to MAC by email to mac@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk or by post to the following address:

Migration Advisory Committee
3rd Floor Seacole Building
2 Marsham Street
London SW1P 4DF

The call for evidence document is available on the MAC website.

Evidence can also be submitted to ourselves at NHS Employers, as we are working in partnership with Health Education England and the Centre for Workforce Intelligence to develop a comprehensive evidence base for submission to MAC on behalf of the health sector.  Please send any evidence to us by email to recruitmentandretention@nhsemployers.org.

Please ensure any responses are submitted to NHS Employers by 14 November 2014.

Further information

The Government will expect to receive MAC’s advice and recommendations by 15 January 2015.

Please see our Shortage occupation list page for further background information on the purpose of the list.
