The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) is currently completing a partial review of the shortage occupation list as previously reported by NHS Employers in September.

The list shows the vacancies that cannot be filled due to a shortage of resident UK workers. Employers can recruit individuals from outside the European Economic Area for occupations on the list and issue a Tier 2 visa without having to demonstrate that a resident labour market test has been carried out.

NHS Employers is in the process of collating a collective response for MAC, based on the evidence and intelligence we have gathered from employers in recent months.  If you would like to take this final opportunity to influence the review of the shortage occupation list, please submit your evidence directly to MAC by a deadline of 5 December:

Further details about the partial review and the call for evidence document can be found on the MAC website.
