Public Health England has reported that more than 506,000 frontline staff (52.6 per cent) were vaccinated between 1 September and 31 December 2014.

This is an improvement on the 2013/14 figures, with over 12,000 more staff receiving the vaccination than at the same time last year.

It is also an increase from figures released in November 2014 which showed the level of vaccinations at 48.2 per cent, meaning approximately 50,000 more staff were vaccinated in the last month of the year.

Here are some of the highlights from the figures:

  • 142 trusts have vaccinated over half of their staff
  • 109 trusts have exceeded the 2013/14 final average of 54.8 per cent
  • 23 trusts have vaccinated 75 per cent or more of their staff
  • 126 trusts have improved compared to the same period of 2013/14

The figures complement the statistics released from Public Health Wales last week, which also showed that Wales reached a record high with their seasonal flu vaccination uptake.
