The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published guidance on the new fundamental standards regulations and policy on enforcement.

This new guidance describes how health and adult social care providers across England can meet the Government's new care regulations which take effect from 1 April 2015.

The regulations and guidance are an essential component of CQC’s new approach, as set out in strategy Raising Standards, Putting people first.

Implications for employers in the NHS

The guidance applies to those who are registered with the CQC, performing regulated activity. If you are a prospective provider or manager applying for registration, this means you must demonstrate that you will be able to meet the requirements set out in the regulations and, once registered, continue to meet them. It covers both the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated activities) Regulations 2014 and Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009 (Part 4).
