The General Medical Council (GMC) is holding an eight-week public consultation on changes to improve its fitness to practice investigations and hearings.
The GMC is seeking to improve clarity and efficiency by modernising the way it investigates complaints about doctors and how the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) panels hear each case
Investigating complaints about doctors can be a lengthy process which the GMC plans to shorten, thereby reducing the stress and strain for all involved while still providing a fair and appropriate outcome for each case.
To do this, the GMC is seeking the views of employers and anyone with an interest to respond to the consultation and take part in shaping the way the GMC improves future investigations and hearings.
The consultation and further information can be found on the GMC's website. The consultation closes on Wednesday 20 May and the results will be published in summer 2015.
