The Home Office has published details of changes to fees for visas and immigration applications.

Key changes

The key changes employers should be aware of are as follows:

  • increase in the cost of a tier 2 certification of sponsorship (CoS) from £184 to £199
  • increase in the cost of a tier 2 (general) application of between £50 - £100 (depending on the type of application)
  • cost of a tier 2 sponsor licence stays the same.

Detailed information can be found in the Home Office Immigration and Nationality Fees Table, From April 2015.

Immigration health surcharge

As of 6 April 2015, individuals may also need to pay a healthcare surcharge (called the immigration health surcharge) as part of their immigration application. This will allow the individual to use the NHS.

This is a charge of £200 per year for most visa and immigration applications, and will apply to nationals of a country outside the European Economic Area.
