This year Total Reward Statements (TRS) will be rolled out in two tranches at the end of August and October.
NHS Business Services Authority (NHS BSA) will confirm which tranche your organisation will be part of in their May employer newsletter.
There are three main actions that employers can do now to prepare.
- Data cleanse - the deadline for accurate member pension data to reach NHS Pensions is 12 June 2015. Providing accurate member data can help reduce the number of pension estimates you have to fulfil. If a member requests an estimate of age benefits, you can direct them to the TRS web page to access their TRS.
- Data readiness report - If you have not already done so, you can access data readiness reports via the NHS Interface Hub: Pensions File Manager. Data readiness reports provide details of employees records that could not be matched between ESR and NHS Pensions data. You can find out more about this in the NHSBSA March 2015 NHS Pensions Technical newsletter.
- TRS contact details - if your TRS contact details have changed since last year you should get in touch with NHS Pensions at email@example.com with the name, contact details and EA code.
- Employer to do list and communications pack - NHS BSA have published a TRS to do list and communications pack for employers on their website.
TRS can be a valuable tool in recruiting, retaining and motivating staff by showing details of the overall value of their employment package including basic pay, allowances, pension benefits and local benefits offered by you as an employer.
TRS are developed and delivered by the NHS Business Services Authority in partnership with the NHS Electronic Staff Record Programme.
