A young carer or young adult carer is someone who cares for the needs of someone else. In the UK alone there are over 700,000 young carers, for this reason young carers and young adult carers are working with professionals in the NHS to influence strategic leaders and policy makers regarding the impact of the caring role on the health and wellbeing of young people.

The professionals were asked to make ‘Pinky Pledges’ with the young carers. Sue Covill, director of development and employment at NHS Employers, made a commitment to contribute to further raise awareness of young carers and young adult carers with frontline NHS staff.
