The Autumn 2015 NHS Employers Workforce Summit booking system is now open.

On Tuesday 13 October 2015, NHS Employers will be hosting an Autumn Workforce Summit at the Royal College of Surgeons, London. 

Aimed at HR and clinical workforce leaders, this summit focuses on planning for the longer term workforce issues facing health and care leaders over the next three to five years.  It will offer the time, space and framework needed to facilitate strategic discussions with key workforce leaders and partners from across the health and care system.

Feedback received from NHS organisations indicates that while employers face some serious immediate challenges, they would welcome opportunities to consider the longer term workforce agenda highlighted in the Five-year forward view

The programme

A full programme will be added to the website shortly. In the meantime here’s a summary of what delegates can expect from the day.

Daniel Mortimer, chief executive, NHS Employers, will chair the opening panel session with the heads of professions at NHS England including:

  • Jane Cummings, Chief Nursing Officer for England
  • Sue Hill, Chief Scientific Officer 
  • Suzanne Rastrick, Chief Allied Health Professions Officer. 
This session will set the scene around meeting future workforce challenges with a range of a leading workforce experts including Brendan Barber, Chair of Acas, joining us on the main stage throughout the day. 

Breakout sessions

Our interactive breakout sessions will enable in-depth discussion and ensure delegates have a chance to engage and feed in their own views on the key workforce issues, along with taking away practical solutions to apply to their own organisations.

Breakout sessions on the day include:

  • The productivity challenge – in association with Allocate Software
  • Reshaping the NHS workforce – in association with the Nuffield Trust
  • Technology in the NHS – in search of the killer app
  • Learning from healthcare systems in Europe.

Networking reception

To ensure that you have ample time to catch-up and engage with colleagues we will also be hosting a complimentary networking reception for delegates at the Royal College of Surgeons the evening before the Summit (12 October) between 6pm and 8pm.

Please note: In order to ensure that as many organisations as possible have the opportunity to attend this event, we are limiting each organisation to a maximum of three delegates. To ensure that we have the right mix of delegates we also request that one of the delegates is a senior HR representative.
