Patient Safety award - winners announced

Monday 6 July saw 17 winners recognised at this year's Patient Safety and Care Awards.

The awards honoured teams whose initiatives have improved quality and made patient care safer. A panel of expert judges worked through 750 submissions from 370 different organisations in order to find these worthy winners.

The Changing Culture award, sponsored by NHS Employers was taken home by Mersey Care Trust. The full list of 2015 winners are:

  • Clinical Leadership - Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries

  • Changing Culture – Mersey Care Trust

  • Dementia Care - Cwm Taf University Health Board

  • Education and Training in Patient Safety - Royal Brompton Hospital

  • End of Life Care - Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust

  • Improving Safety in Medicines Management - Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust

  • Managing Long-Term Conditions - NHS Lewisham Clinical Commissioning Group

  • Mental Health - Inclusion Healthcare Social Enterprise CIC

  • Musculoskeletal Care - Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust

  • Patient Safety in Care of Older People - NHS Southport and Ormskirk

  • Improving Safety and Quality in Primary Care – Sycamore House Medical Centre

  • Technology and IT to Improve Patient Safety – Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust

  • Quality of Care - South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust

  • Best New Product, Innovation or Service - Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust

  • Trust of the Year - East London Foundation Trust

  • Special Recognition Award - Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust.
